On Saturday evening, we headed to one of our fave sushi spots, Yo Yo Restaurant, in the Mission to celebrate Will's birthday. Yo Yo's manager/waitress Jessica always treats us right.
Happy Birthday, old man!
Just in case you want to know what I've been getting up to in San Francisco...or wherever I am in the world.

SFCB: Letterpress 101
February 21, 2012
After getting back from a long weekend in Park City, I spent Tuesday night at the San Francisco Center for the Book (www.sfcb.org) to take an "Introduction to Letterpress" course. I've always been fascinated with letterpress printing and decided to check it out for myself. The introduction course is a 3-hour foray into high-level letterpress. We did some basic typesetting, mixed some colors, and printed on the various presses.
Typesetting with 18-point font:
Vandercook press:
Sample letterpress from the Vandercook:
Printing with a photopolymer plate:
It was pretty fun and the intro convinced me that there's so much to learn and I would probably love it. I'm definitely going to sign up for more intensive workshops in the future, and I hope someday I can get the hang of letterpress!

Park City for President's Day Weekend
February 20, 2012
Woohoo, long weekend vacation! Will and I were up super early Thursday morning to catch a flight to Salt Lake City. We were going to be spending the President's Day long weekend in Park City, UT with three other couples (Pete & Natasha, Jon & Whitney, Damien & Tessa), and we couldn't wait to get there!
There's a cool voucher program (QuickStart) via Park City resorts (Park City, Deer Valley, The Canyons) where if you pre-register online, show your boarding pass from your flight and an out-of-state ID, you get a free lift ticket on the same day you flew in. Sweet!
Jon and Whitney met up with us and we headed directly to Deer Valley.
Sweet, sweet apres-skiing with fancy hot drinks at Stein Eriksen lodge:
Later in the evening, the rest of the gang showed up and we headed for dinner at the High West Distillery in Park City (awesome meal).
The rest of the weekend included fun and mellow skiing at Park City (not much new snow to rage about), great meals (Zoom, Davanza's, Cafe Terigo, Wasatch Brewery), some bar-hopping (No Name Saloon, Downstairs, Flannigans, etc.), and some fanatastic apres-skiing (at the rental cabin and at the Viking Yurt on the mountain). Scroll down for pics from the weekend...
Yes, that's right, it's an Irish Car Bomb mechanism:
Growler:
Thanks to Pete, Natasha, Jon, Whitney, Damien and Tessa for a fantastic weekend in Park City! Can't wait for next year!
