Campbell Farmer's Market

I went down to South Bay on Sunday to hang out with my sister and her kids. We took them to the Campbell Farmer's Market, which features some amazing organic vendors with some of the best fruit and veggies around. It was pretty hot and schweaty, a far cry from the typical summer day (misty, foggy, chilly...where were you yesterday during my long run?!?).




After the farmer's market, where I picked up some of the sweetest oranges, strawberries, cherry tomatoes and corn to be found, we headed over to the Pruneyard for brunch at Hobee's.
After brunch, we spent a little time in Barnes & Noble while my sister did some grocery shopping, and the kids took over the kiddie section.






Can't wait to eat those oranges!

Bye Bye Coco & Sonia

The weekend began with a great girls night where 7 other ladies (Heather, Wendy, Gail, Sandy, JoJo, Sonia and Jen) and I went to see "Mamma Mia" downtown at the Westfield Century Theatres. It was awesome. I also am a lover of ABBA, since the days of long ago, listening as my parents played their songs all the time. And karaoking all their songs with my sister...

On Saturday morning, I went for my last long training run pre-half marathon, where I did a 11.5 mile loop that included the GG Bridge span to Vista Point, and many other hills. The SF summer gods let me down as well, as it was gorgeously hot and sunny, pretty much kicking my butt. I managed to finish with a pace less than 10 min/mile, which at the end of the day was a good thing. All in all, I feel really good about the race next weekend and will taper this week.

On Saturday night, Will and I went to HB's house for a dinner for Coco and Sonia, who are taking off on their cross-country trek next week on their big move to Massachussetts. Boo!

I Heart My Friends!

On Thursday night, some folks came over for dinner (Katharine, Key, Wendy, Gail, Sandy, Robert & Sue Hee) under the ruse of "just wanting to catch up", but it ended up being a belated celebration for my recent change in voting status. Aww, how sweet...




Katharine and Key created a "red, white and blue" dessert, consisting of a wonderful berry pie from Mission Beach Cafe, fresh blueberries, vanilla bean ice cream, and a sweet berry sauce.
In an amazing coincidence, I also received my new shiny passport in the mail that very day...

AIDSWalk SF 2008

Our good friend, Robert fundraises and participates in the AIDSWalk San Francisco pretty much every year in memory of his bro-do, David. So this year, due to the lack-of-frisbee calendar availability, Will and I decided to walk with Robert instead of only letting our wallets do the walking.

In the theme of continued walking, Will and I did the big hill walk from the Castro to GG Park on the Sunday morning for the big event. AIDSWalk is a 10K (6.2 mile) event that takes a big loop around GG Park.

We were also joining a group of Robert's co-workers who walk every year and have a very special theme. For every person that sponsors their efforts, they pull a wagon and trolley and carry bags with a monkey who represents that person's sponsorship. The monkeys are all different, with different names, and name tags to show who sponsored them:



The monkey themes are awesome, we got to wear monkey hats for walking with them. All sorts of people are curious about the monkeys and come check them out. In fact, we had to be careful that people didn't take them.
Robert raised enough money to be a "Star Walker" (in fact, he raised $2957) and have the honor of wearing a crown to signify his efforts:

It does take some time to walk 6.2 miles dragging wagons full of monkeys, it took at least 2.5 hours, and we talked to a lot of enthusiastic folks along the way. I was pretty tuckered from all the fresh air and the lactic acid build-up from the run the day before, so I was psyched to head home after lunch at Chow.

Congrats to AIDSWalk organizers, volunteers and participants for raising over 4.5 million dollars!

It's Sara's Birthday!

On Saturday morning, while Will went frisbee golfing with the boys on his regular Saturday morning tee time, I went for my longest training run yet (~10 miles) on a very hilly route, which was very "challenging". Following the run, we checked out some open houses, spent a good deal of pesos at Sports Basement (using the 20% off coupon I got at the Jungle Run last weekend to buy a sweet Garmin 405 Forerunner GPS watch for running), and then chilled at home until mid-evening.

Will and I schlepped ourselves over the big hill over to Cole Valley to meet up with folks at Kezar Bar & Restaurant to celebrate Sara's birthday with some drinks.


Shaun and Henrik showed up after a wedding, so they were looking very svelte...
