Irene's Big 30!

May 31, 2010

On Saturday, Gail, Key and I went to Irene's to celebrate her 30th birthday.

Key brought some cupcakes from Sibby's to celebrate...yum!!

Irene gave all the guests a goodie bag full of treats from childhood (hooray for Pop Rocks!)! Love it...

Happy Birthday Irene!

From the Sunset, , Gail and I went to meet Will and a bunch of boys that he plays hockey with in Polk Village at Green's, where they were watching Game 1 of the NHL playoffs. Afterwards, we headed to Street Restaurant to grab food.

Tourist Club

May 21, 2010

In celebration of spring and wanting to maximize weekends, the hiking adventures have started up again. This time, we headed back to Muir Woods/Mt. Tam to do a hike from Bootjack parking lot to the infamous Tourist Club and back.

The Tourist Club is a Nature Friends members-only clubhouse that celebrates nature and Alpine heritage. However, on specific weekends in the summer, the club is open to the public from 1-6 PM only. It is located via trails (how we got there) or a short but steep road from Panoramic Hwy. The clubhouse is nestled in the woods and have fantastic wood decks to hang out and enjoy some Belgian beer while taking in the views.

This was my second time to Tourist Club, but we were psyched to try new trails in Muir Woods.
From Bootjack parking lot, we took the Bootjack Trail --> Troop 80 Trail --> Sierra Trail --> Lost Trail --> Ocean View Trail --> Panoramic Trail --> Redwoods Trail --> Tourist Club. This was not the most direct, or the easiest, by any means. It took us about 5 miles and not quite 2 hours to do (by the way, the Lost Trail is essentially straight up, with ~250 steps, ow...). Check out pics below.

Tourist Club...finally!:

And small world experience of the hike, we ran into Ashley and Lissy at the Tourist Club!:

We took as shorter route home: Tourist Club --> Ridge Rd --> Panoramic Hwy --> Panoramic Trail --> Alice East Wood Road --> Troop 80 Trail --> Bootjack Trail --> Bootjack parking lot. It was about 3.3 miles back, so the total loop was about 8.4 miles.

It was a great hike, but I was happy to be done. Great day!

Abe's Birthday

May 18, 2010

Oopsie, this should have been posted before the Olympic Club post, but...oh well.

Abe's birthday was last Monday and we went for dinner to celebrate on Tuesday night at Beretta.

Will's present to Abe iIt's exactly what you're thinking, and it's on his face):

Olympic Club? Check!

May 21, 2010

I've been pulling some long days at work over the past few months, and knowing that I'm working all day on Sunday, I took Friday off from work and went golfing with Will, Ray and Spencer. Ray had won a chance to play golf at the exclusive members-only Olympic club at a charity silent auction, and he was nice enough to invite Will and I to play.

I had no idea, but the Olympic Club snack bar is known for their amazing "Burger dog", which is a cheeseburger made in a special mold that fits in a hot dog bun...it was delicious:

I Miss These Guys!

My sister's family has been gone for over a month now, and I miss them a lot. Thankfully, Jack sends pics regularly and I figured you guys missed them too, so here are some:
