Hallowe'en 2008

October 31, 2008

Happy Hallowe'en!! I've been looking forward to this day, not because it's an excuse to dress up, but because it means that Will and I are about to go on vacation! We're heading out for two weeks starting tomorrow to Hong Kong and southeast China (e.g. Guangzhou, Shenzen). Whee!

Also, we cleaned up our disaster house as much as possible to host some folks for an early birthday celebration for Gail (who's birthday is Nov. 1). Some of the folks were dressed up for Hallowe'en parties to occur later in the evening, take a look below. Also, I carved a pumpkin this year, something I haven't done in a very long time:

For dinner, we picked up:
- sushi trays from Kiki Sushi
- take-out dumplings, potstickers and famous spicy dry chicken wings from San Tung
- cupcakes from Kara's Cupcakes
- pumpkin ice cream from Mitchell's

Quite the feast to celebrate Gail's birthday, indeed...

Happy Birthday Gail!!!

And, for the next two weeks, I will most probably be taking a blog vacation as well, I am not taking my computer to HK/China, so stay tuned in a couple weeks for blogspots full of Asian adventures with Bea, Will and Bea's nutty family...

Kiddies - 10/25/2008

October 25, 2008

Saturday morning not only brought the weekend, but it also brought the arrival of plumbers to install the toilet!! Finally!

I went for a run with Gail, Sandy, and Kali in GG Park (~6 miles) and then we grabbed brunch, did some shopping in the Haight, and then I headed down to South Bay to have dinner with my sister's family. Will and I are heading on vacation next weekend, so I wanted to see the kids as I wasn't going to see them for 3 weekends! And, my sister was making Shephard's Pie, she whips up the best home-cooked meals...

This video cracks me up, Charlotte has figured out how to climb up on the change table, not something to encourage, but she's pretty good (Simon can't do it yet...):

HH @ Americano

October 23, 2008

It's been a long week, lots of work stuff, and settling into the new place (that still doesn't have a toilet or shower!!!). Good times.

To take the edge off the week, I met up with the girls for a happy hour that Sandy organized (yes, you read that right, Sandy organized it...) at Americano in Hotel Vitale.

Ashley and Paul also came into town for a quick long weekend trip, so they caught up with us and then we grabbed food at Taylor's Refresher in the Ferry Building.

Great to see you Ashley and Paul!!

Hog Island & Fog City

October 20, 2008

On Monday early evening, Will and I met up with Kali and JonZ for happy hour at Hog Island Oyster Co, partly to celebrate Kali's half-marathon finish the day before. Hog Island's happy hour runs Monday and Thursday nights, from 5 -7 PM, with $1 oysters and $3.50 pints of beer. Yum!

After happy hour, Will, JonZ and I went to Fog City Diner to meet up with Coco, who's in town for work this week, for dinner. It's been some time since I had last been to Fog City Diner, but it was great to have dinner here again. They have a pretty good menu and dependably-good food.

I had the Niman Ranch burger with aged cheddar, grilled onions and Applewood Smoked Bacon, delish!
For dessert, I shared the World Famous "Tortoise" Sundae with Will, not much to go wrong with that dessert.
It was fantastic catching up with both JonZ and Coco, good times!

Happy Birthday Uncle Peter!

October 20, 2008

On Sunday night, after a full day of unpacking, Will and I went down to South Bay for dinner at my sister's place to celebrate Uncle Peter's birthday. It was nice to leave the new house and take a break from all the work, and especially nice to be fed prime rib and hang out in a place with a bathroom...

For dessert, I picked up two pies from Mission Beach Cafe, the chocolate pecan and the classic apple pie, they were delicious!:

Happy Birthday Uncle Peter!!
