Will and I took the Amtrak from Albany-Renssaler to Penn Station a day late (on the 28th instead of the 27th), which probably was a good thing. Even on the 28th, we arrived in Brooklyn to mounts of snow and unplowed streets. The boroughs were not pleased!
We were staying with Mike and Debbie in Boerum Hill in Brooklyn. They finally arrived at home from their vacation in Mexico two days late due to the weather. What a contrast!

On Wednesday, we headed into Manhattan to catch the matinee of Green Day's "American Idiot" Broadway musical at St. James Theater.
For dinner, we headed to Jonathan Waxman's restaurant, Barbuto, in West Village.

This dish might be the best ragu I've ever had. Apparently, the kitchen uses the parmesan rinds from the wheel to soak in the ragu over a long period of time...so good!
Will had the signature dish of pollo al forno (roasted JW chicken and salsa verde), which was incredibly tender:
I had the sogliola fritto (crispy local fluke, shaved fennel, wild arugula and meyer lemon):
For dessert, Will chose the bread pudding with vanilla gelato (no surprise there!), and was pretty bomb-diggity:
After dinner, it was back to Brooklyn to hang out with the Margulies' and grab a drink at Brooklyn Inn.

On Thursday, Will and I headed back to West Village to have brunch with Geneve at Cafe Cluny.
And then it was time to head off to JFK and hope the travel gods were on our side. Thankfully, our flight was uneventful...JFK was mild, we both got upgraded (yay Global Services status!) and we landed in SFO 45 minutes early. But alas, all could not end perfectly, as we got to Will's car and the battery was dead. Thank goodness for AAA!
