Lulu

May 30, 2011

On Monday, Will and I headed over to Alameda to meet the newest addition to Triple A's home, Luella (a.k.a. Lulu).

Seriously cute, almost too much for us to handle...

Chez RobHee

May 29, 2011

On Sunday night, Will and I were happy to play guinea pigs to Sue Hee's cooking adventures (she tries out new recipes depending on what she got in her veggie surprise box). It was also nice to see Yogi (who recently lost his manhood and is sporting a hip head cone), and to see Winks and Wu before they took off back to the east coast.

Loving this long weekend....

Bun Mee & Hangover II

May 29, 2011

On Saturday night, more folks were out for another dinner-and-a-movie night. This time, we headed to Fillmore street to try out the delicious offerings of the new Vietnamese sandwich shop, Bun Mee.

Salad rolls with sliced pork, prawns, vermicelli noodles, pineapple, pickled shallots, and fresh herbs (yum!):

I ordered the Belly Bun for dinner (braised pork belly with salted radish relish, shaved onion, pickled carrot and daikon, cucumber, jalapenos and cilantro). OMG, it was so good.
I also had the housemade strawberry-lychee agua fresca, which combines two of my favorite fruits, and was superb. I need to steal this recipe so I can add rum to it and make it a cocktail. Slurp!  Lastly, I also tried the chocolate coconut cream cookie sandwich (which happens to be on the 7x7 magazine Big Sweet SF list (50 treats to eat before you die).  How many times can I say OMG?

Bun Mee is fantastic, and good and economic meal, great place for a quick bite when shopping on Fillmore or before going to a movie...for instance.

After dinner, we headed down to the Kabuki to catch "Hangover 2".

I've heard that "Hangover 2" got slaughtered in the reviews, but I enjoyed it. Seriously, what magical and new experience was everyone expecting?

27 Holes of G(Fr)olf

May 28, 2011

Hooray for long weekends! What makes a long weekend even better? Taking Friday off to make it an even longer weekend, that's what!

On Friday, Will and I met up with Winks, Wu, Batch, Shaun, Jeff and Ashley for a big day of "olf" in GG Park. We played 9 holes at the GG Golf Course, followed by 18 holes of frisbee golf at the disc golf course.

It was a beautiful day to spend 6 hours in the park. I definitely didn't play that well, but it didn't matter, good peeps and good fun all around.

For dinner, Ashley hosted a potluck at her place in the Marina, and it was a lovely place to enjoy the sunset.

Happy long weekend!

Tanpopo & Bridesmaids

May 26, 2011

On Wednesday night, Will and I met up a bunch of folks for dinner and a movie "Japantown-style". We went for ramen noodles at Tanpopo in Japantown, followed by "Bridesmaids" at the Kabuki (love that theater!).

The ramen was kick-ass and cheap (accompanied by a nice little happy hour with Sapporo beer for $2). The movie was funny and as I heart chick flicks, I enjoyed it immensely. The boys weren't big fans, due to the chick-flick-ness of the movie. Kristen Wiig rocks.

Wendy T's Bridal Shower

May 23, 2011

On Sunday, Wendy, Ashley and I headed over the bridge to Oakland for Wendy T's bridal shower. The shower was hosted by some of Wendy's friends, at a beautiful home in the Rockridge hills.

Wendy T and the ladies of Abe's family:

Congratulations to Wendy T for her upcoming nuptials to Abe!
