Vancouver!

On our way back to Vancouver from Whistler, Will and I stopped in at AAA+L's new home in North Vancouver to say hi (at least to Arissa, Aisha and Lulu, Adam's on the road...again!).

And then to Will's bro's house to see the family, the boys are getting so big! And Dexter is a mobile monster!

On Tuesday, Will and I squeezed in an awesome sushi lunch at Sushi Yama before heading to the airport to fly back to SF...I heart Vancouver cheap sushi!

Thanks to family and friends for the good times over quick visits!!

Whistler!

Will and I headed up to Whistler for the MLK Jr long weekend. Yay, skiing! With ski dad, Kenny!

Kenny has become quite the foodie chef...he made us some pretty awesome meals!

Central Kitchen

On Friday, Will and I met up with Ian and Catherine for dinner at Central Kitchen. This restaurant opened in 2012 and had good reviews, and comes from the group who also created flour + water and Salumeria.

Some snacks to start, radishes with sea salt and cultured butter to start:

Crispy rutabaga with curry emulsion:

As a starter, I had the flash-cured perch with grapefruit, avocado & salsify:

For dinner, I had the roasted pork with pumpkin, persimmon and candy cap mushroom:

Some desserts to share, starting with the "milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate":

Apple confit, spiced bread and vanilla ice cream:

Overall, a fantastic meal, one of the better ones at a new resto that I've had in quite some time. A new fave!

NYE 2012

We aren't big "new year's eve" people, and in the past couple years, we've gone for the low-key options. This year, we didn't make any plans, and we decided to have an impromptu potluck NYE party. Turns out some others hadn't made plans either, we had a great turnout!
