BM Alumni Ladies Day

February 1, 2009

On Saturday, I headed up to Santa Rosa around lunchtime to meet up with some ladies for an afternoon hike and dinner. The day was planned by Kelli, for some of the women who have played on Brass Monkey (my previous co-ed club frisbee team) over the years. There was a group of 6 of us (me, Kelli, Heather, Liz, An-Chi, Shannon), and we met up for a hike on the Bald Mountain Trail in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park in Sonoma County.

We got off to a late start (3:30 PMish, eek), and headed off on a ~6.2 mile hike. It was a semi-loop hike that starts off on Lower Bald Mountain Trail, then continues on Bald Mountain Trail, Gray Pines Trail to the summit, and down to Meadow Trail past the Ferguson Observatory back to the parking lot. The climb to the summit is a good challenge, had us all sweating and grinding to the top.

The views got sweeter as we climbed...

At the top of Bald Mountain, we couldn't resist the opportunity to take some "jump" shots, some were better than others (I won't bother posting all the failed ones!):

We finished the hike just as the last light of dusk was disappearing (phew!), taking us about 2 hours 20 min to complete the hike (including about 10 minutes are so wasted on taking pics at the summit...hee hee...).

After the hike, we cooked dinner at Kelli's house and girl-chatted. Later in the evening, Heather, Liz and I had to take off and head back the city. I had to get up early on Sunday morning to run the Kaiser Permanente 5K race in GG Park,...if only my butt would not be so darn sore from the hike!

Thanks for hosting the BM Alumni Ladies Day, Kelli!!!

P.S. I ended running a pretty good 5K despite the sore butt (26:45 for 3.1 miles; 8:38 min/mile; 246/2327 overall; 72/1568 women; 37/912 division), so I was pretty happy...
