Latin America Club

June 26, 2009

On Thursday night, Will, Robert, Abe, Wendy and I met up with Mike and Debbie at Latin America Club for some drinks. That place is dangereux.

Can't wait to whoop it up with Mike and Debbie at their nuptials at the end of August in the Berkshires!

Margu-please!

June 24, 2009

Our good friend, Mike, and his fiancee Debbie, came into town this week to catch up with buds and for a wedding. On Wednesday night, Mike and Debbie came over to our place for a drink, before Debbie headed off to bachelorette activities and Mike came out for dinner with Will and I. We met up with Adam, Arissa, and Adam's co-workers Wade and Karine for dinner at Catch close to our house. It has been years since I've eaten at Catch, so we decided to check it out again.

To start, I had the Crab Louis, which was delicious and a great starter.
For dinner, I had the miso-glazed black cod with sauteed bok choy, udon noodles, dashi kumbo broth. The fish was very tasty, but the noodles and broth were less exciting.
Overall, the food was pretty good, but the service was dismal. Orr server was completely off-tempo, and had some major 'tude. Too bad, it pretty much ruined the meal for us.

At least we had good friends and conversation to salvage the night.

"We Eat Ham and Jam and Spam-A-Lot!"

On Tuesday night, I had an early work dinner in Burlingame at Stella Alpina Osteria for my director who is leaving the company (booo!!!!). It was a really nice dinner though, and the rustic Italian food was very tasty.

We shared some appetizers to start, including the Carpaccio All’ Albese (thinly sliced beef filet, sliced mushrooms, Arugula & shaved Parmigiano drizzled with a lemon infusion).
Also, we shared the Gnocchi di Patate “Nonna Nilla" (*Al Pesto* with walnut & Gorgonzola). Delish!
For an entree, I had the Osso Bucco, with polenta, which was huge (couldn't finish it) and very yummy.

From early dinner, I headed back to the city to meet up with 15 other folks to go see "Spamalot" at the Golden Gate Theatre. I had been dying to see this musical since it debuted on Broadway in 2005, as I am a huge fan of the original Monty Python movie "Monty Python and The Holy Grail". John O'Hurley (of Seinfeld fame) was playing the lead role of King Arthur of Camelot.

Reba, organizer extraordinare, got 16 tickets for our group, thanks Reba!
Go check out Spamalot, even if you miss it in SF (only showing until July 5), find it another major city! It's worth it!

Panteras BBQ

June 21, 2009

On Sunday afternoon, Will and I went to Ian's house for the "premature season ending" party for their C-league hockey team, the Panteras. Ian has a fantastic back yard for bbqs, and it was another beautiful summer sunny day in SF.

Ian put on an awesome (classy!) spread: pulled pork sandwiches, sirlioin steak fajitas, spicy corn salad and home-made sweet potato fries. Nice work! It was delish!

Thanks for hosting a wonderful BBQ, Ian! Go Panteras!

Reba's G&T Party

June 21, 2009

On Saturday night, Will and I headed over to Reba's for her annual G&T party, and to celebrate Reba's belated and Chuck's birthdays.

It was great to see many folks, happy belated birthday to Reba and happy birthday to Chuck!

Char-Char & Simey Turn 3!

June 21, 2009

On Saturday morning, I got up early and ran the Stadium to Stadium 10K race that runs from AT&T Park to the recently re-named Candlestick Park. I ran this race last year, and realized that in the past year, I had run 12 races! Crazy!

Sue Hee, Cindy, Adam and Sara also ran the 10K, and the race was very well-organized this year. It also helped that it started earlier so we weren't all on the brink of sun stroke this year. I ended up running it in 55:06 (8:52 min/mile pace; 39/174 female 30-39; 388/1003 overall), so I was happy.

Will picked me up at Candlestick Park and we headed down to Santa Clara right away, as it was Charlotte and Simon's 3rd birthday party! Kids galore!

Happy 3rd Birthday Char-Char & Simey!!!!
