Summer Vacation 2011: Kalah & Ryan Get Hitched in New Denver!

August 22, 2011

Will and I spent two days in Arbutus Ridge (Cobble Hill, BC, about 30 min or so north of Victoria). We had fantastic meals (as always!), golfed in a Couples tournament, and played some cards. We've been really lucky with weather, as every where we went, it was gorgeous.

On Friday morning, Will and I drove to Swartz Bay and caught the ferry back to Tsawassen on the mainland. We caught a flight from Vancouver to a small regional airport in Castlegar, nestled in the Kootenays. Upon arrival, Abe picked us up (he flew into Spokane), and we drove about 1.5 hours north along Slocan Lake to a little town called New Denver.  Why New Denver? It's where Kalah and Ryan were getting hitched!

After checking in to our motel, we headed down to Bigelow beach for some burritos and beer with the wedding attendees:

After the beach, we took over the town pub (they didn't know what hit 'em!). Check out Double A and adorable baby Keaton, offspring of Cody and Heather:

The wedding was on Saturday afternoon, so there was some lazy morning brunch and touring the town, before getting all gussied up for the nuptials.

The ceremony took place at the Kohan Reflection Center, and it was a beautiful day.

Yay!

Hipster Keaton!:

Between the ceremony and the reception, there was a bit of time, so we headed to...the beach!

The ceremony was a the local town hall, Bosun Hall:

Parker can't miss a good party:

We danced for hours and hours. We drank, we caroused, and had a fantastic time. I may have destroyed myself. The next day, I had a minor case of what felt like whiplash, diagnosed due to the serious headbangin' we did to the 80's hair band songs. Ahh....good times.

Congratulations to Kalah and Ryan, we all had a fantastic time!!!
