I had a quickie work trip to Nutley, NJ on Tuesday and Wednesday, but got back in time to go for dinner with Key and Sue (Asian Foodie Club!). All three of us were excited to try Coi Restaurant, the 2-Michelin Star gem by Chef Daniel Patterson.
The menu is a 10-course menu, and as none of us have any dietary restrictions, so...bring it on! The restaurant is very classy and don't allow flash photo, so the pics below do not do the food justice.
#1: California bowl (crisps with avocado cream)
#2: Beet Rose (beet with yogurt and rose petal ice)
#3: Oyster (Chelsea gem oysters with radish)
#4: Inverted tart with fromage blanc, fennel and wheatgrass
#4: Dungeness crab soup
#5: Popcorn quinoa
#6: Matsutake mushrooms
#7: Abalone with heirloom chicories and shellfish sauce
#8: filet of lichen-crusted beef with porcini mushrooms, New Zealand spinach and native spices
Throughout the meal, we also had some housemade black olive and caraway bread that was pretty amazing.
#9: Citron with lime marshmallow and gin
#10: Chocolate, chicory and olive oil
A little mignardise of raw almond brittle:
So glad to have finally tried Coi, but it's pricy, so save it for a good reason. Overall, fantastic meal with great friends (Asian Foodie Club!!).
