Thank goodness for late check-outs...
After we squeezed in our check out by noon, Will and I set off to grab lunch. We tried to go to another New Orleans establishment, Mother's Restaurant, but it ended up being closed for Mother's Day. So thankfully, the little magic box (e.g. blackberry) pointed us to Emeril's Restaurant in the Warehouse district instead.
I had the Sea Scallop benedict, which was glorious.
Will had the Croque Madame, also a delicious brunch choice.
We couldn't resist the Pecan Tart with bourbon chocolate ice cream and caramel sauce.
We headed back towards the French Quarter and the river, and cut through Harrah's casino to enjoy some air conditioning, and saw that there was a World Series of Poker Tournament...
And then we headed to the Audubon Aquarium on the riverfront:
After checking out the aquarium, we went next door to the IMAX theatre to check out "Hurricane on the Bayou", which tells an interesting story of the efforts to save the wetlands, and the impact of losing the wetlands on protecting cities like NOLA from hurricanes (e.g. Katrina).
It was a great day to end the fantastic weekend. We flew out of NOLA in the late afternoon, and with some delays, got home around midnight.
